Consumers in Singapore who are annoyed with unsolicited text ads will be relieved when a new consumer data protection regime is implemented next year, if approved by the Parliament in 2012.
The government has proposed a National Do-Not-Call Registry to protect consumers’ privacy by allowing consumers to opt-out of all unsolicited marketing like calls or SMS ads.

After ecology minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet spoke with citizens on what are the changes they wanted made, it is decided that billboard ads will be removed off the streets by Paris authorities and replaced with art by 2013. Nobody likes spam, whether it’s in their mailbox or e-mail inbox, even more so their mobile phones. Users in India are no exception. According to this article on BizReport, it states that spam “may account for about half of all SMS messages within the sub-continent and costs residents at least $750 million in lost time each year”. The Indian government had already implemented strict rulings to prevent mobile spam but this became a disadvantage for legitimate marketers.
