Direct Marketing Association has released figures on digital advertising spending for year 2012 forecasting that it will hit $35.4 billion. This is an increase from 2011, which is expected to be $31.3 billion. Social networking spend is also enjoying an increase as well. It is currently $2.5 billion and is forecast to reach $3 billion in 2012. Search is forecast to reach $14 billion and display channels to reach $8.5 billion. Direct Marketing Association credits the biggest growth in spending to mobile, citing an annual growth rate of over 50% year over year (YoY) and 2012 will see it rise 39% YoY.

Prosper Mobile Insights did this mobile survey with smartphone and tablet users between 22 June to 27 June this year. The respondents were averagely 39 years old. They wanted to find out how are these users using their smartphones or tablets to replace the other devices used for their lifestyles.
